Variable Star Meeting
2004
Saturday, April 3
at Bowling Green State
University
Goals:
We will provide a venue where variable star
researchers in the Indiana-Michigan-Ohio-Ontario region can share
their results and techniques. We hope this will enable participants
to learn what their neighbors are studying, as well as to build
collaborations and friendships. We also aim to create a supportive
environment where students can present their work, be it complete or
in progress, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
All aspects of variable star research --
photometric, spectroscopic, theoretical, etc. -- are
welcome.
Format:
The informal nature of this meeting provides
us with a flexible format. The following are suggestions and may
change depending on the number of speakers we have and how long they
wish to speak.
- Optional: meet at the Planetarium
by 11:30 for lunch at an eatery at the Student Union.
- Begin
at 12:30pm and go until about 5pm,
with a break for coffee and snacks around 3pm.
- 20 minute talks for faculty and
graduate students (followed by 5 min for questions).
- 10 minute talks for
undergraduates (followed by 5 minutes for questions).
- A limited number of posters can
be hung, though we encourage people to give talks.
- Optional: dinner after the
meeting at a local restaurant.
- A final schedule of events will
be available at the meeting.
