SYNOPSIS
     USE HPF_LIBRARY

     MAXVAL_PREFIX(ARRAY, DIM, MASK, SEGMENT, EXCLUSIVE)

DESCRIPTION
     MAXVAL_PREFIX Computes a segmented MAXVAL scan along  dimen-
     sion DIM of ARRAY.

ARGUMENTS
     ARRAY
          must be of type integer or real. It must not be scalar.

     DIM  this is an optional argument.  If present, it  must  be
          scalar  and of type integer with a value in the range 1
          <= DIM <= n, where n is the rank of ARRAY.

     MASK is an optional argument.  Must be of type  logical  and
          must be conformable with ARRAY.

     SEGMENT
          this is an optional argument.  Must be of type  logical
          and have the same shape as ARRAY.

     EXCLUSIVE
          this is an optional argument.  Must be of type  logical
          and must be scalar.

RESULT TYPE
     Same type and shape as ARRAY.
