REFLECTION and REFRACTION
of LIGHT
ANALYSIS
Locating the Bulb Filament:
2. Compare the measurement with the direct value recorded in cell F49. Calculate the percentage error in the measurement and record in cell F100.
4. Find the percentage difference in the above distances and enter the result in cell F105.
6. Pick one of the refraction data points in cells D87:D96. Use a pocket calculator to find the sine of the incident angle, sin θi , and the sine of the refracted angle, sin θr . Enter these values in cells F108:F109.
7. Take the ratio of sin θito sin θr, and enter the result in cell F111 as the index of refraction for the acrylic plastic out of which the cylindrical lens is made.
8. Answer Question 8 on the Worksheet.
9. Submit
the completed Worksheet along with all ray tracings and graphs as
part of your lab report.
