Displaying CCD Images

  1. Start CCDSoft. The PC is usually left running with the CCDSoft program running (it may be minimized, click on the CCDSoft button along the bottom of the screen to bring it up).

  2. To open an existing image, click on the file folder button in the upper-left of the tool bar, or select Open from the File menu. We will keep our our pretty pictures in a folder called PrettyPix on C: Home/Images.

  3. Scroll around the image with the scoll bars, zoom in or out with the magnifying glass icons, you can even change the way different intensity pixels are displayed using the buttons along the lower edge of the tool bar (hold the cursor over the button for a second and the button's function will be described). More details can be found in the CCDSoft Manual in the warmroom.

  4. You can open a large number of images at once, and chose between them by clicking on them.

  5. When you are finished, close up all your images, and minimize CCDSoft (optional). DO NOT exit the CCDSoft program, or shut down the computer, though you may turn off the monitor.
