When known and appropriate, a short history and mention of ancestors buried there is included. In a few cases, a link is provided to a file containing a list of tombstones inscriptions.
This cemetery is on the property of a Christian retreat at 7700 North Indian lake Road, NE of Indianapolis, IN. To get there, take Sunnyside Road north from US 36/SR 67 to 75th St., then west to Indian Lake Road, then north about one block. Enter northern drive on west side of Indian Lake Road, go through the brick entrance and follow the drive all the way to the end by the smaller house and barn/shed to the cemetery entance.
The cemetery is on the homestead grounds of Edward Poe Day, who came to Lawrence Twp., Marion Co., IN, in 1830. Ancestors buried there include Edward Poe Day, his wife Elizabeth Williams, and many members of his extended family, including his brother (Isaac Day and wife Rachel Trout), daughter (Evaline Day and husband John Stoner, and his mother Sariah Yates).
This cemetery is on the east bank of Indian Creek just north of US 36/ SR 67, on the western edge of Oaklandon, IN. Heading west on US 36, turn right on into the private drive just before the bridge over Indian Creek. The cemetery is between the drive and Indian Creek.
The cemetery is on the homestead farm of Christopher Apple, sr., who donated it as a burial ground. It later became part of the farm owned by Alexander Mock, whose wife, Mary Pickle, was a grandaughter of Christopher Apple, sr.. Many friends and members of the extended Apple and Mock families are buried here, including Samuel Cory and wife Lydia Faussett.
This cemetery is on the grounds of what was once the Wesley Chapel M. E. Church, just SW of the intersection of German Church Road and 46th Street, about 2 miles SW of Oaklandon, Indiana. Heading west on US 36/SR 67, turn left on German Church Road soon after it crosses Indian Creek. Cemetery is on the right about 1 mile south of US 36/SR 67. It is sometimes called the "Tyce-Lynch" cemetery after the surnames on some prominent tombstones.
Grounds for the cemetery and church were donated by John Shenkle circa 1840. Early Church membership included many neighbors who came from around the Mt. Zion M. E. church in Brown County, OH, to Lawrence Twsp., Marion Co., OH. The hewed log church building was torn down in 1867, and the full 1-acre site became a graveyard. Casper Stoner, probably an exhorter in the Church, is buried here, along with several early Church members and their families. The latter include Benjamin Chapman and his wife Ellen Yates, sister of Casper Stoner's wife Sariah Yates.
This cemetery is located on the north side of US 36/SR 67 just west of it's intersection with Sunnyside Road/German Church Road. The property was originally part of the homestead farm of David Hoss, who moved there from Brown County, OH, in 1829.
This cemetery is located at 8209 Sargent Road on the east side, between the road and the west bank of Mud Creek, in Lawrence Twsp., Marion Co., IN. This is in the northern part of Lawrence Twsp., about 1.5 miles south of the Hamilton County line.
This was once the churchyard cemetery of the Hopewell M. E. Church, built around 1850 by Jacob Hoss and others on land donated by Jacob Hoss. The church became inactive around 1878.
This cemetery is located on the eastern edge of Oaklandon, IN, at about 12300 Old Orchard Drive. This is just south of the Oaklandon IOOF Cemetery, and just north of the railroad right-of-way.
The cemetery is on the original homestead land of Aquilla McCord, who came to Lawrence Twsp. from near Withamsville, Clermont Co., OH. Buried here are friends and extended families of Aquilla McCord, including John Cory and wife Mary (parents of Samuel Cory). (McCords and Corys were proably neighbors and friends, both in Indiana and in Clermont Co., Ohio, before that.
This is on the east side of the village of McCordsville, IN, on the east side of Hancock CR 600W (Mt. Comfort Road), about block south of US 36/SR 67.
This is on or near the original homestead property of Sarah (Apple) McCord. Many early residents of the McCordsville are buried here, including Elias McCord and his wife Elizabeth Behymer, their daughter Lucinda McCord and her husband Francis Marion Day. Also buried here are sons and daughters of Francis Marion and Lucinda, including Isaac Hollingsworth Day and wife Flora Belle Thomas. This cemetery is just north of the Mt. Comfort M. E. Church, on the east side of Mt. Comfort Road in Mt. Comfort, Buck Creek Twsp., Hancock Co., IN.
While this appears to be a church graveyard, burials here date from as early as 1842, long before 1888, when a church was built on the property. Several of my ancestors are buried here: William Collins and wife Nancy Cannaday; John Collins and 2nd wife Clarissa Evans; Martin Van B. Collins and first wife Celia Wright; Joseph Wright and wife Elizabeth Stevens; Edward N. Stoner and wife Clarrissa Collins.
